What Are Isopods?
Isopods are crustaceans, more closely related to crabs, shrimp, and lobsters than they are to bugs. The terrestrial species are commonly known as roly-polies, woodlice, and pill bugs.
Isopods are detritivores that feed on leaflitter, wood, and other decaying matter. Their diversity, relatively simple care requirements, and interesting behaviour, have made them increasingly popular as pets while many keepers also keep isopods in terrariums to act as 'clean up crews'.
Today, there is a growing community of isopod keepers and enthusiasts across the world.
